'We will make a difference”

“My organisation has some very deep-rooted and cultural views that need to be broken down. I am very proud of the efforts I have made to be part of the change of mindset that needs to happen”

I have gained an enormous amount from being involved with Time to Change Wales: a sense of self worth and the courage to speak openly and honestly about my mental health disorder.

‘My work underground is paying off’

I may not yet have had the chance to do any talks or presentations, but my work underground is finally paying off, with the promise of an audience with none other than the CEO of my employer.

My employer signed up to the Time to Change Wales promise in 2017, but my personal experience in the workplace has demonstrated their failure to keep that promise.

My organisation has some very deep-rooted and cultural views that need to be broken down, and I am very proud of the efforts I have made to be part of the change of mindset that needs to happen.

‘Inspired by my fellow Champions’

If I can be just a small part of this change, then my suffering will not have been for nothing. And I very much hope that it will prevent further suffering for those who have complex mental health problems; those who are misunderstood and consequently mistreated for something that is not even their fault.

I am now fiercely passionate about this campaign, and if I had not been inspired by my fellow Champions, I may not have found the courage to speak. So a huge thanks to everyone who has validated my issues and supported me. We will make a difference.

“Mental health does not discriminate, so why should we?”

"There is stigma by the older generation and an attitude to just ‘get on with it’ – which may have delayed the time for me to seek help."

“I want to be a catalyst for change wherever I can”

“Being vulnerable and looking to learn something new to help your physical and mental wellbeing is a major strength. It’s difficult, which is why it can be scary. It’s so worth it, though!”
