Thank you so much for your patience with us whilst we have navigated this challenging past year and the suspension of our training to become a Time to Change Wales Champion.
Whilst we still cannot meet face-to-face, we have refined our training so that we can begin to deliver it virtually, via Zoom. This interactive training will take place over two consecutive days in two, 2 and a half hour sessions (with a coffee break mid-way!).
This training will provide you with:
- An overview of the Time to Change Wales campaign and how you can get involved as Champions
- Information on mental health stigma and discrimination and how we challenge it
- A look at our resources and how to use them
- An opportunity to meet one of our established Champions, who will share their story with you and be on hand to answer any questions you might have about volunteering for TtCW
- Guidance on how to write a blog or film vlogs for our website and social media.
- An introduction to delivering anti-stigma presentations*
*Champions who wish to deliver anti-stigma presentations will be offered a further day's training, once we are able to meet face-to-face. This will be for Champions who wish to deliver talks to businesses and organisations to share their own story of stigma and discrimination.
If you would like to attend our virtual training, please let us know. We will have space for 12 attendees for each set of dates - of which you will need to commit to attending both sessions - so early booking is advised. Our training dates are as follows:
- Monday 17th & Tuesday 18th May - 9am – 11.30am
- Thursday 10th & Friday 11th June - 9am – 11.30am
- Monday 5th & Tuesday 6th July - 9am – 11.30am
Breakdown of the two days:
Part 1 of training will be delivered virtually in two training sessions over two days. It will include:
- Introduction to the TtCW Campaign
- Role of a TtCW Champion
- Champion activities to get involved with: blog writing, vlogs and videos
- Meet a Champion and listen to thier experience of being a TtCW Champion
- An introduction to what an TtCW anti-stigma talk is.
Part 2 of training will be delivered as soon as we are able to meet face-to-face again (primarily for safeguarding). This training session will include:
- Information about preparing and delivering a personal anti-stigma talk and will be a chance for Champions to share their story
- Preparation for Champions to deliver in-person activities such as anti-stigma presentations, exhibition stands. etc. Champions who do not wish to deliver in-person activities, are not required to attend Part 2's training.
Time to Change Wales has introduced two new areas of priority:
-
To strengthen the workplace wellbeing offer with a new focus on socio-economically deprived communities by working with employers and more closely with government bodies and initiatives such as Healthy Working Wales, Public Health Wales and the Department for Work and Pensions.
-
Researching mental health stigma within Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities in Wales. Through this listening exercise, Time to Change Wales hopes to better represent the needs and views of individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.
We particularly welcome applications to become a TtCW Champion from individuals who identify with either of these two areas.
