Talk about mental health

A few small words can make a big difference. Don’t be afraid to talk about mental health!

Mental health problems are common. One in four of us will be affected at some point in our lives. So being able to talk about mental health is something that’s important for us all.

The fact that it’s sometimes difficult to talk about mental health problems can be one of the hardest parts of having a mental illness. Whether it’s fear or awkwardness about talking to someone you know about their mental health problem – or talking about our own mental health problem, being unable to talk about mental health isn’t good for anyone.

Have a look at our tips to help you talk to someone about their mental health problems, or if you have a mental health problem and you feel ready to talk about it we have tips on how to talk about your mental health. If you haven’t seen it already, our TV advert could inspire you to start your conversation today!

People are talking about mental health on our Facebook page, so why not join in the conversation?

Remember that you can read about people’s experiences of living with mental health problems (and how to talk about it!) in our blogs.

“It's essential to open up discussions of mental health and show others it's ok to be you – it's not infectious and very important that others can talk to the person who’s going through it.”
