Mark on Fatherhood and Mental Health

Mark speaks about the importance of talking about mental health for parents

4th January 2021, 10.00am | Mark

In December 2020 we called Mark Williams, founder of the Fathers Reaching Out initiative, for a chat about fatherhood and mental health. After a career in sales management and training Mark Williams became involved in the mental health sector after his wife Michelle experience with postnatal depression from birth trauma and his own experience with depression following the birth of his child. This experience led Mark to set up Fathers Reaching Out, a movement to reduce the stigma around fatherhood and mental health and encourage men to speak out.

Mark speaks about how talking at Time to Talk Day 2019 inspired the establishment of a local community walk and talk group. For Time to Talk Day 2021, we are pleased to announce that we are teaming up with Ramblers Cymru to encourage people across Wales to Walk and Talk. Whether it’s going for a stroll in a local park or hiking up a hill, walking is a great way to start a small conversation about mental health, to make a big difference. #TimeToTalk

“I want to be a catalyst for change wherever I can”

“Being vulnerable and looking to learn something new to help your physical and mental wellbeing is a major strength. It’s difficult, which is why it can be scary. It’s so worth it, though!”
